What novelties have you prepared for this 2019 edition?
The 2019 Congress theme of “Smart Mobility, Empowering Cities” reflects Singapore’s commitment to creating the most liveable smart city in support of a higher quality of life and an ever-connected community. The comprehensive format of plenary and interactive sessions, as well as a dynamic exhibition with technical demonstrations and tours the World Congress 2019 has to offer will be an opportunity for all participants to network, discuss and share ground-breaking transport technology, and forge mutually beneficial partnerships to further unleash the power of ITS.
The event presents a multifaceted programme with workshops at ITS World Congress, and special events. Which of the activities do you think are a must for the visitor or which of them do you highlight?
Aside from the knowledge-packed technical programmes and sessions, the key highlights of every ITS World Congresses are the technical tours, exhibition and demonstrations, featuring the latest advancements and technologies in the field of intelligent transportation.
The technical tours this year are designed to provide delegates with knowledge and new perspectives on Singapore’s best-in-class transportation systems. The tours feature a broad spectrum of ITS applications e.g. the Intelligent Transport System Centre (ITSC) Operations Control Centre(OCC), which is the nerve centre that manages traffic in Singapore; PSA Singapore, the world’s largest container transhipment hub; and CETRAN, the testing and research centre for autonomous vehicles.
The exhibition at the ITSWC 2019 will feature more than 300 commercial exhibitors, public administrations and other organisations dedicated to ITS technology and services, spanning across more than 5,000sqm of exhibition space.
Technical demonstrations will be held at the nearby Float @ Marina Bay – the world’s largest floating stage, against the backdrop of an impressive skyline view of Singapore. Participants can see and experience developmental vehicles, systems and concepts, some of which are already on trial or are being test-bedded in Singapore, including Autonomous Vehicles, infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions and static showcases of a smart bus, passenger drone display etc.
What are the advantages of exhibiting at ITS World Congress?
It will be the first time for ITS World Congress to take place in Southeast Asia. Singapore’s strategic location between the East and West has earned her the reputation of a top Asia-Pacific destination for business events, supported by world-class conference and event facilities. This will attract strong interest and active participation from the region, and open doors to fast-growing markets such as China, India and Southeast Asia. ITSWC 2019 provides exhibitors with tremendous opportunities, acting as the platform to penetrate previously untapped regional markets.
Can you give some tips for those exhibiting for the first time in Singapore and specifically at ITS World Congress? (venue rules, customs, business etiquette...)
We have a dedicated team of exhibition management that will assist and support exhibitors to make sure they have a fruitful experience in ITSWC 2019. Some tips for first-time exhibitors in Singapore include:
- English is the language of business, widely spoken across the country.
- The common greeting in Asia starts with a “Hello” and a handshake, with an exchange of business cards.
- Exhibitors are highly encouraged to dress in business suits or in business casuals.
- Smoking is not permitted in the venue but there will be designated smoking areas.
- The standard voltage in Singapore is in between 220 – 240V.
Can anybody attend ITS World Congress? How to register?
The main congress including demonstrations and technical tours are open to registered participants. You can refer to the Congress website for registration information and fees.
The exhibition of ITSWC 2019 is open to trade visitors at no cost. The last two days of the exhibition will also be open to public. Trade visitor registration is scheduled to open mid-August 2019.
