Yoga has become more and more popular since the first edition of OM Yoga Show, 12 years ago. Next month they will be in London to bring together under one roof professionals and yoga lovers, so we have taken this chance to talk with the organizers and discover what yoga can do for you and why more and more people are deciding to practice it...
Which do you think are the reasons for this growing interest?
Health and wellbeing, in general, has become something that is more and more important to people. Modern life is so stressful, with so little time to concentrate on our own health, that people are making a conscious effort to take time away from their busy lives, and yoga can play a huge part in that. The health benefits, both mental and physical, are well documented, and it’s so accessible – quite simply anyone can do yoga anywhere.
And now OM Yoga Show is the biggest yoga gathering in Europe! What do you think that makes it different from other similar shows?
The OM Yoga Show is unique, because of its dedication to showing that yoga is not just a form of exercise, it’s a way of life. We offer a specially selected showcase of exhibitors that will help everyone lead their best yogic life; from superfoods to yoga retreats, there’s something for everyone. Added to this is the sheer amount of yoga on offer – over 200 free classes across three days means that visitors can come along and practice yoga all weekend!
What is the exhibition profile? Can anybody attend?
We’re keen to encourage everyone to come along to the yoga show and see for themselves that yoga is for everybody! Children under 16 are admitted for free with an adult, and the dedicated Children’s Yoga Studio means that they can also join in with the yoga! No matter your age, your body type, your gender or your level of experience, there really is something for everyone.
In addition to the exhibition, we can enjoy about free open classes and workshops. Do you recommend us an activity in particular?
This year, for the first time, the OM Yoga Show is offering Aerial Yoga in our brand new class! The area is rigged with swings, and the classes will be taught by specially qualified teachers who are experienced with Aerial Yoga. It looks amazing, and it feels even better – getting vertical with yoga has huge health benefits, and we think it’s going to be really popular!
Give us, at least, three reasons to don't miss OM Yoga Show London?
- Tara Stiles, one of the world’s most famous yoga teachers with over 275,000 YouTube subscribers, is teaching two workshops at this year’s show. Don’t miss your chance to see this superstar!
- This is the most relaxing, rejuvenation and refreshing weekend of the year – so much free yoga is on offer that you will leave feeling amazing!
- Your ticket to the OM Yoga Show also includes free entry into the Mind Body Soul Experience for free – two shows for the price of one!
Something you would say to all those sceptics about yoga and similar practices...?
People think you have to be flexible to do yoga, but the truth is that anyone and everyone can do yoga, and everyone will find a benefit. Whether that means that you’ll become as bendy as a pretzel, or you just find a little space in your head to take a deep breath – it’s worth giving it a go!
Finally, can you give us some participation details from the last edition?
30,000 visitors came to last year’s event, across the two shows (OM Yoga Show and Mind Body Soul Experience).
