If you are a coil, motor or transformer manufacturer from the automotive, energy, electrical or electronic sectors, don't miss to visit CWIEME Berlin, to be held next week (May 10-12) in Berlin. We have been talking with the organisers and they tell us some of the novelties we will find on the ground floor, some tips and the main reasons to attend CWIEME Berlin 2016!
CWIEME Berlin is the leading event in the world for coil wilding, electric motor and transformer manufacturing technologies. But, what makes it different from other similar events?
- CWIEME Berlin is the longest-running show of its kind. The first edition took place in 1996.
- CWIEME Berlin covers materials, components and equipment to manufacture a transformer, generator for electric motor from start to finish – electrical steels, permanent magnets, laminations, and insulating oils, to wires, cables, winding machines, and welding equipment. Many companies can meet both customers and suppliers at the show.
- The visitors are an essential mix of technical specialists and decision-makers.
- CWIEME Berlin is highly international. Exhibitors at CWIEME Berlin 2015 came from 41 countries. Visitors came from 82 countries.
- 50% of visitors don’t go to any other shows.
- CWIEME Berlin has a very well-regarded seminar programme that put attendees in front of an impressive line-up of industry experts to hear their views on the latest developments, advances and trends impacting the coil winding and electrical manufacturing industry.
“It is the only exhibition in the world that gathers together all the companies, which are in the production of coils and also the transformer industry. I find the show innovative and a must-attend with deep insight.” – Konstantin Kunevich, Ferrite Holding (SZL), Director.
“CWIEME Berlin integrates all the suppliers and customers of our industry. It is a good place to meet with our customers, our suppliers and also to see what competitors are doing in the field.” – Daniel Tschudi, Executive Vice President, Weidmann Electrical Technology AG.
What represents CWIEME Berlin for the annual calendar of the industry?
CWIEME Berlin is not just an opportunity to source new products and suppliers and meet with potential and existing customers, but to network, keep an eye on the competition, learn about all the latest trends and technical advances, and discuss the big issues affecting the industry today.
Can you give some tips for new exhibitors?
There are more than 100 new exhibitors this year gathered in the dedicated New Exhibitor Zone in Hall 4.1. By grouping all new exhibitors together, organisers i2i Events Group aim to make it quicker and easier for visitors to discover new products and initiate new partnerships. i2i Events Group wishes all new exhibitions every success in their participation.
What are the highlights of CWIEME Berlin next edition?
New for 2016, CWIEME Matchmaking is a complimentary networking tool to help both visitors and exhibitors get the most out of their time at CWIEME Berlin. CWIEME Matchmaking provides access to thousands of contacts helping participants reach the right people in the right organisations. Participants can use the tool to arrange meetings in the dedicated matchmaking lounge or at exhibitor stands. Interested parties can sign up for their free account.
One of the strengths of the show is its seminar programme. Do you recommend us a session in particular?
There will be 29 seminars over the three days this year covering market trends, technological developments in materials and manufacturing methods, and legislation. Dr Konstantinos Laskaris, principal motor designer at Tesla Motors will be giving a presentation entitled ‘Optimal motor selection considering power density and efficiency for EV applications.’
Dr Laskaris previously spoke at CWIEME Chicago in 2015 and his session was extremely well received. I would also recommend the panel session ‘New EU regulation on transformers – background ruling and industry’s response’ with Mahesh Sampat, President of EMS International Consulting, Professor Angelo Baggini, Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Bergamo and Chairman of the CENELEC TC14 committee for power transformers, and Kai Pollari, Manager Energy Efficiency Global Marketing for
Give us some reasons to don't miss the show.
“Every time I come here I see how much the show is growing. CWIEME is important because there are very few events where you can find people who work in design but also in manufacturing in one place,” says Flavio Kalluf, senior R&D design engineer at Whirlpool.
Dr Giorgio Vercesi from Dupont Protection Technologies in EMEA says: “Dupont has been coming to CWIEME for years. It’s fascinating and the most relevant show in Europe for us. It really is the only place to be for all the suppliers and those interested in the transformer and rotating industry.”
Finally, give us some participation results from the last edition (visitors, exhibitors...)
Last year’s CWIEME Berlin exhibition welcomed thousands of visitors from 82 countries, 92% of which were key decision-makers or influencers. The show also saw a 56% increase in attendance by OEMs, including global leaders General Electric, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power, NIDEC Motors & Actuators, Robert Bosch GmbH, Rolls-Royce Marine, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tesla Motors, ALSTOM Power, Philips Medical Systems, and ABB.
